[edit] File:Niobe1MountSpilManisaTurkey.jpg
Is it possible to verify "Copy of e-mail forwarded to permissions@wikimedia.org on 21 August 2007" claim? Bulwersator (talk) 11:56, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've found ticket #2007082110012205 at which he gives permission for Image:ManisaAglayanKayaWeepingStoneTurkey.jpg, Image:Niobe1MountSpilManisaTurkey.jpg and Image:Niobe2MountSypilusManisaTurkey.jpg though the permission is not valid. I'm afraid that "permission to use on Wikipedia" is not adequate enough. He later send more emails to the permissions queue (54 in total), so it's possible the permission was provided later. I don't have the time for it to check it now. Regards, Trijnsteltalk 20:08, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
- Ticket:2007112910016753 appears to cover File:ManisaAglayanKayaWeepingStoneTurkey.jpg, but I have not found anything on the other two files. I'm afraid a Turkish speaker would do better here. →Nagy 20:14, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Images from abhisit.org
- File:Abhisit and Family.jpg
- File:Abhisit Graciously appointed.jpg
- File:Government Spokesperson under Premiership of PM Chuan Leekpai.jpg
- File:Abhisit Bangkok election 1992.jpg
These images were transferred from en.wikipedia with OTRS ticket #2010122810010994. However, I'm under the impression that the tickets were still tagged as OTRS incomplete when User:Taketa made the transfers. Could these files' status be confirmed please? --Paul_012 (talk) 17:51, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have reopened the ticket in order to get a satisfactory confirmation from the copyright holder. The current permission indeed is not sufficient, though it has been accepted in 2010. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, →Nagy 21:04, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Eisenhower photo
I submitted a OTRS request on April 19 and April 23 and have not received a ticket. It was for the Eisenhower photo on Raleigh DeGeer Amyx's entry. Thanks. Jheditorials 14:48, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Note: this is about File:Eisenhower Painting.jpg, ticket:2012042310008848. Appears to be insufficient since we would need a statement of permission from Eisenhower's heirs. Maybe someone's more familiar with this? Thanks, →Nagy 17:50, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
- Could you please clarify how it is insufficient? The documentation supplied clearly demonstrates that Eisenhower transferred ownership of the painting and copyright to John Moaney, and that John Moaney then transferred ownership of the painting and copyright to Raleigh DeGeer Amyx. Eisenhower's heirs do not have a claim on the painting any longer. Please advise. Jheditorials 19:40, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- I cannot locate any information regarding copyright (especially in the three files attached), but I'd be thankful if you could point it out to me since I'm also interested in keeping this image. Regards, →Nagy 15:50, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've contacted Raleigh DeGeer Amyx's representative and they are getting more information and then will get back to me. Thank you for your patience. Jheditorials 18:07, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
- Could the picture be used under the non-free content exception based on the policy of "no free equivalent" and fair use? [[1]] Jheditorials 15:15, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] File:Drina'-1 Tapai.jpg
The permission for File:Drina'-1 Tapai.jpg was uploaded as a separate file File:Drina1-Tapai license2.jpg and File:Drina permission1.jpg. As per OTRS TT # 2012030110014722, the original copyright holder does not have internet access. Is this written permission enough considering the fact that the author meant public domain even though he did not use the same words. --Sreejith K (talk) 06:09, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I've uploaded the permission scans to the OTRS. Personally I'd prefer to have another letter by the author explicitly stating the license he wishes to release his work under. →Nagy 16:00, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Arabic volunteer needed
There are a few book scans uploaded in commons and as per Ticket#: 2012022410006566, the uploader himself is the author of the book. He also claims himself to be the publisher of the book and has sent scans from his book to prove his point. Unfortunately, the book scans are in Arabic and I am unable to see whether his claims are true. Can an Arabic volunteer intervene? --Sreejith K (talk) 06:12, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
I am not the author of the book. I uploaded the photos from book whose author is also the publisher. J10452M (talk) 11:19, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] File:Kha BNisan in Nahla.jpg
Strange combination of licences: both {{attribution}} and {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all|migration=redundant}}. Could you check the OTRS ticket to confirm that the licences are correct? --Stefan4 (talk) 09:25, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- This permission is not valid, since 2007 we're awaiting a clear statement of permission. I'm not even sure if this ticket is actually about this image, and I'd be really interested in seeing the file history on en.wiki. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, →Nagy 16:17, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- @Nagy: As a steward I'm able to watch deleted histories on all projects, so therefore I can summarize the deletion history on en-wiki. At first, in April 2006, user Chaldean (the original uploader) used the license {{GFDL-self}}. Nine months later he changed the license to Template:CAnkawa (a local public domain license he created himself to give permission to use all content of www.ankawa.com, now deleted). User Jkelly added an OTRS template in February 2007 with a link to ticket #2007020610000767, changed the license to {{attribution}} and added the website http://www.ankawa.com. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Trijnsteltalk 17:54, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Your help is greatly appreciated, this case appears to be connected to Commons:Deletion requests/File:صدام و چند آمریکایی.jpg and there are about two dozens of files that are also using this ticket. While it becomes more likely that we'll have to delete all the files, it might be important to know if Jkelly actually added an OTRS template or if it just was a generic OTRS received tag. Thanks, →Nagy 18:26, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- He used the {{PermissionOTRS}} template. So no, it wasn't an OTRS received tag. It was an actual OTRS permissions tag (which doesn't mean he was right in adding that). Trijnsteltalk 18:35, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well, I tend to place {{OTRS received}} on every file's description page in order to allow another 30 days to prove this permission is valid, along with mailing the contact informing him about the current goings-on. Cheers, →Nagy 13:53, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Permissions by Sebarts for works by Dellert - are they reliable?
Apparently, correspondence with Sebarts (talk · contribs) is the basis for the OTRS tickets of the works by en:Thomas Dellert that he has uploaded. He claims to be Dellert's manager, but how likely is that when one reads this or this? That does not sound like a professional artists' agent. And we know that otrs can be extremely gullible. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 20:12, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- The permissions appear to be valid since they've all been sent from an official email address. In how far third-party rights are affected needs to be resolved in the deletion requests you have filed. Regards, →Nagy 21:34, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] File:Мысовский лицо.jpg
Please, update status or delete this copyvio. --Rambalac (talk) 22:00, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- The permission provided in the ticket was insufficient, however the file is up for regular deletion on 2 May 2012. Thanks, →Nagy 22:08, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- What's that about deletion on 2 May? Killiondude (talk) 08:11, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Still nothing changed. --Rambalac (talk) 04:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Began deletion. --Rambalac (talk) 13:42, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] ticket:2008030310010794: Bollywood Hungama images query
Are images only from http://www.bollywoodhungama.com/stills/partiesnevents/ permitted OR are any images of parties or events like File:Ra.One audio launch.jpg allowed? --Redtigerxyz (talk) 17:55, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Requesting review of logo, newspaper covers
File:ShemspeedLogo.jpg (ticket), File:250 Front Page.jpg (ticket), and File:Jewish Star Calgary19800822 front page.jpg (ticket) were all uploaded under CC BY 3.0 licenses but would appear to all be files that should be only used under non-free fair use licenses. The last one in particular says in the file description "The scan was done by the editor of the paper, Douglas Wertheimer. He would like the same licensing as for other newspapers on Wikipedia, such as the New York Sun." Gobonobo (talk) 21:21, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- All three tickets appear to be valid to me and explicitly mention cc-by-sa-3.0. --Krd 21:26, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Evan Seinfeld images
I uploaded a pair of images that have been sent to me by Evan Seinfeld (as File:Evan Seinfeld 1.jpeg and File:Evan Seinfeld 1.jpeg) and punted the email, with the permission statement to OTRS back on March 20/12. I see the photos in question have just been deleted by Fastily as "no permission". Can someone check to see if that email is still sitting in the permission queue awaiting processing, or do I need to resend the email?? Tabercil (talk) 17:19, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- I don't have anything in the terms of permission emails in OTRS right now on those photos. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 18:39, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, I just resent it. Tabercil (talk) 21:15, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Do me a favor and email me at Special:EmailUser/Zscout370 so we can find these emails since I checked again and nothing. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 21:28, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- Email sent already to you... Tabercil (talk) 18:11, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

- Nothing in OTRS until I forwarded your email myself. I am not sure what happened, but I am going to poke around and ask other agents. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 22:58, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- Dumb question: did I have the permissions email address right? It looked that way to me... Tabercil (talk) 23:02, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- You did have the email address correct. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 23:04, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

I can prove that the author gave them to me unther the licence "double licence GFDL / Cc-by-sa" with a mail he sent me. The source of the file is not available online, the author gave it directly to me.
- Email it to the address listed at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OTRS User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 15:49, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit] File:Is ip2v9115a.jpg
it's my foto! im the owner of this picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vitalshown (talk • contribs) 11:23, April 28, 2012 (UTC)
- The image was deleted because it was apparently a copy of this image. In turn, that is a slight crop (removing the watermarked credit) of an image on this gallery page of Paulina Wycichowska's website, by a photographer named Adam Ciereszko (who has a website here). User:Vitalshown then edited pl:Paulina Wycichowska, adding the image and other information. Article looks like it was created mostly by a single IP editor, though the article itself has been there a while. No matter what, since this is an image already published on the internet, we need independent confirmation of the license. So... if User:Vitalshown is in fact the photographer Adam Ciereszko, then please send an email using the instructions on COM:OTRS, and specifying the free license which you would like to use. The email should be sent from the gmail address seen on Ciereszko's contact page. If User:Vitalshown is Paulina Wycichowska herself, then first read pl:Wikipedia:Tworzenie artykułów o własnej osobie, and be very careful about editing articles about yourself. We would need a confirmation that the photographer did transfer all copyrights to you, otherwise you are not the copyright owner and cannot license the photo. If a copyright transfer did take place, then again please send an email per the instructions at COM:OTRS, confirming the copyright transfer, specifying the license, and using an email address associated with Paulina Wycichowska. Once the emailed permission is received and confirmed by the OTRS team, only then can the photo be undeleted. Carl Lindberg (talk) 14:22, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- This Polish-language ticket (OTRS #2010013010009879) is related to this. This person has given permissions before for images, so I cannot imagine this will not be the case now. However, if a Polish user can double check this, it would be great. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 21:49, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Template:VitalyKuzmin
Hello!
Can someone please confirm the permission for photographs by Vitaly Kuzmin from his websites, please? Greetings. --High Contrast (talk) 21:48, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
- I found ticket # 2010082410009752 in English which only apples to:
- And ticket # 2011080310011751 in Russian, a language that I do not understand.
- -MorganKevinJ(talk) 21:13, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello! Thanks for helping. Yes, there is a specific permission for some images. But newly, Vitaly placed all his files under a CC-by-sa licence (see here). Maybe this can be included to this OTRS-permission for the case when this homepgae might be down (for example) in a few years or so. --High Contrast (talk) 13:24, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- Be sure to provide a link to that page in the permission field and tag the images with {{LicenseReview}} MorganKevinJ(talk) 04:06, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- My intention was to obviate this LicenseReview-big-job. That's why it would be much easier to have this template with its OTRS identification. --High Contrast (talk) 17:13, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
- I created ticket 2012051810000701. It has a PDF of the page that you mentioned above. MorganKevinJ(talk) 03:35, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- Great! Thank you! I have added the ticket to the related template [2]. --High Contrast (talk) 14:46, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

[edit] File:Mahek chahal super fight league event.jpg
Could someone please take a look at the file File:Mahek chahal super fight league event.jpg? The OTRS ticket mentioned (ticket:2008030310010794) is quite old and doesn't look like to be licensing this image. Besides that they're having the template {{Cc-by-3.0-BollywoodHungama}} on it and I don't know what was arranged here. Help? Trijnsteltalk 23:16, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Trijnstel. The OTRS ticket license every image taken by Bollywood Hungama own exclusive photographer. That template is used on these cases. Please, take a look at Category:Unreviewed files from Bollywood Hungama. Ralgis 06:12, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Jodelle Ferland
I was wondering how to get permission with OTRS with this image http://www.flickr.com/photos/the-veselchak/3311668322/ of a popular teen actress. I have not uploaded the picture, since I am afraid it may get deleted too quickly. I do not know how to add an OTRS ticket. --Tinton5 (talk) 23:20, 14 May 2012 (UTC)
- Hello, Tinton5. You can follow the procedure on Commons:OTRS#If you are not the copyright holder. Ralgis 06:05, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
[edit] Images from Steve Lipofsky
Hello. User:Cavic, who has been confirmed as Steve Lipofsky, has uploaded quite a number of images of NBA players. The images are sourced to basketballphoto.com. However, the source often isn't explicit. Example File:Larry Bird 1 Lipofsky.jpg. On closer inspection, it is possible to find the actual source page of the images.
At first pass on this, it appeared to be routine copyright violation stuff; taking stuff off the web, claiming it as yours, and uploading to Commons. I tagged two of his images in this way, and then quite by accident discovered the truth behind these images; they are legitimate, and the rights holder is the one uploading the images and (when specified) releasing them under compatible licenses. In some cases, no license is specified (ex: File:Erving Lipofsky.jpg).
The problem here is
- I believe all of the uploads are legitimate attempts by the owner to contribute the materials
- Multiple well intentioned editors (myself included) have accidentally tagged uploads of his for deletion
- Some of his images have been wrongfully deleted.
I think we need an OTRS team member to work with Mr. Lipofsky, and clear up the license issues and get a statement on file from him regarding his uploads. Thoughts?
I've informed Mr. Lipofsky of this discussion, but he is not on very frequently. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- For what it's worth, I've corrected File:Erving Lipofsky.jpg; its license template was accidentally lost when a DR was closed. --dave pape (talk) 13:16, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
