{{Artwork}} is an alternative to {{Information}} template used for the description of images of artworks, especially those residing in museums or galleries. Originally meant for pictorial art (paintings, and by extension: frescoes, pencils, engravings, stained glass, etc.), but now recommended for sculptures, archeological artifacts, artistic photographs, museum collections, etc.
Be aware that in case of faithful photographic copy (without specific creative contribution of the photograph) of 2D art, like paintings etc. only license of artwork is necessary, like {{PD-art}}. However in case of copyrightable photos of 2D art as well as in case of whatever photos of 3D art, like sculptures, structures, coins, gems etc. licenses and full description for the depicted artwork as well as for the photograph are necessary. In such cases, {{Artwork}} has to be used in addition to {{Information}} template. See here for more information about copyright of the copied artwork.

Parameters

Parameter name	Description	Default value	required or optional?
artist	Artist who created the original artwork. Use {{Creator:Name Surname}} with {{Creator}} template whenever possible.	blank field presented as: "Author".	optional
title	Title of the artwork. Skip and use description field if artwork has no title. date	Date of creation of the original artwork by one of the following ways: for simple dates use ISO 8601 format, e.g. "1234" or "2006-01-15" for "15 January 2006". The following formats are recognized: YYYY YYYY-MM YYYY-MM-DD for all other dates use {{date}} or {{other date}}	empty	optional
medium	(Alternative name: technique) Medium (technique and materials) used to create artwork. dimensions	Dimensions of the artwork: 1D (length), 2D (width × height) or 3D (width × height × depth). Please use {{Size}} formatting template, such as: {{Size|unit=cm|width=76.7|height=83.5}} <— gives Height: 83.5 cm (32.9 in). Width: 76.7 cm (30.2 in). or {{Size|in|30.2|32.87}} <— gives 30.2 × 32.87 in (76.7 × 83.5 cm), if sizes are given in inches Avoid using Language templates	empty	optional
institution	Gallery, museum or collection owning the piece. accession number	Museum's accession number or some other inventory or identification number. Provide also link to museum database if available.	empty	optional
source	Information about source of the file or the photographer. Possible values: If image was found on the internet include original URLs (preferably two, embedding web page and image). other_fields	Additional table fields. Easiest way to use it is through {{Information field|name=Field Name|value=Field Value}}. There are also other_fields_1, other_fields_2, and other_fields_3 for placing fields in other locations.	empty	optional
strict	Ordinarily Artwork always show "Author" and "Source/Photographer". This default behavior can be overwritten by setting "strict=". Use only when file contains ways of specifying license and source, for example through additional {{Information}} template used to specify photograph info separately.	1	optional
demo	"demo=1" will show all the fields used by the template empty or not. Meant to be used only in template: namespace when demonstrating template fields. Usual form is "demo=<noinclude>1</noinclude>".	empty	optional
