Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Bildbeschreibungen

Hi, du hast viele schöne Bilder aus der Mongolei hochgeladen. Leider fehlt bei den meisten eine aussagekräftige Beschreibung, der man entnehmen könnte, was das jeweilige Bild eigentlich zeigt. Eine solche ist aber notwendig, damit die Wikipedia-Projekte (und auch andere Nutzer) auch etwas mit den Bildern anfangen können. So steht z.B. bei vielen Bildern einfach nur "Gorkh-Terelj National Park" drin. Es wäre aber wichtig zu wissen, ob es sich z.B. bei einem Gebäude um ein Klster (und ggf. um welches) handelt, oder um irgendetwas anderes. Versuch doch bitte, diese Informationen noch nachzuliefern, damit dieser Fundus nicht ungenutzt bleiben muss. Es reicht völlig aus, wenn du die Informationen auf Deutsch hinzufügst, es gibt genug Leute, die das dann übersetzen können. Vielen Dank! --Latebird (talk) 15:05, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Galerien und Kategorien

Hi, überleg dir bitts jeweils sorgfältig, ob du eine Seite oder eine Kategorie wirklich brauchst, bevor du sie erstellst. Grundsätzlich solltest du immer erst prüfen, ob es etwas entsprechendes schon gibt, und keine Duplikate erzeugen (schon gar nicht mit absurder Orthographie wie "Category:UlaanBaatar"). Dann sollten die Namen möglichst in jeder Situation sprechend und eindeutig sein. "Category:Juulchin" kann je nach Kontext völlig unterschiedliche Dinge bedeuten, sinnvoller wäre "Category: Juulchin Bayalag jurt camp, Terelj". Es bringt auch nichts, einfach für jede Kategorie zusätzlich eine Galerieseite mit dem gleichen Inhalt zu erstellen. Der Zweck von Galerieseiten besteht darin, bei unübersichtlichen (sprich großen) Kategorien nur die besten Bilder daraus zu präsentieren. Ganz habe ich auch noch nicht den Zweck von Category:Panorama Ulaanbaatar verstanden. Lassen sich diese Bilder wirklich alle zu Panoramas zusammensetzen? Falls nein, wäre das irreführend und verwirrend. Fall ja, wäre es wahrscheinlich sinnvoll, auf der Galerieseite nur die resultierenden Panoramas zu zeigen. Auch hier wäre übrigens ein besserer Name wünschenswert, z.B. "Category:Panoramas of Ulan Bator" (in der Schreibweise nach en:WP:MON). --Latebird (talk) 08:22, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Mongolische Küche

Hi, bei deinen uploads zum Thema "Mongolian Cuisine" hat sich leider einiges eingeschlichen, was da überhaupt nicht hingehört. Nur weil du in der Mongolei irgendetwas gegessen hast, heißt noch lange nicht, dass es sich dabei um mongolische Küche handelt. Als (mehr oder weniger eindeutig) mongolische Gerichte konnte ich nur die folgenden identifizieren. Bitte verifiziere, ob das so stimmt:

• File:Mongolian Cuisine 12.JPG - Boortsog ?
• File:Mongolian Cuisine 13.JPG - Öröm, aaruul
• File:Mongolian Cuisine 16.JPG - Banshtai shöl (Suppe mit Bansh) ?

Eindeutig nichts mongolisches ist an den nächsten, welche in dieser Kategorie und mit diesen Dateinamen extrem irreführend sind und nicht so stehen bleiben dürfen.

• File:Mongolian Cuisine 06.JPG - zu BD's, siehe en:Mongolian Barbeque und Category:Food of Taiwan
• File:Mongolian Cuisine 07.JPG - Wiener(?) Schnitzel
• File:Mongolian Cuisine 08.JPG - Wiener(?) Schnitzel

• File:Mongolian Cuisine 14.JPG - Schaschlik

Und zu guter letzt noch die unidentifizierbaren. Die meisten davon sehen in meinen Augen eher chinesisch aus, mit Nudeln und/oder Sojasprossen. Etwas mongolisches kann ich darin jedenfalls nicht erkennen, und ich bin mit der mongolische Küche wirklich sehr vertraut. Mit diesen Dateinamen sollten sie jedenfalls auch wieder gelöscht werden, außer du könntest beim einen oder anderen das entsprechende Gericht aus der mongolischen Küche benennen. Weitere nützliche Details findest du vielleicht auch unter http://www.mongolfood.info/ .

Hi!

Vielen Dank fuer die vielen Bilder. Hast Du mal ueberlegt, eine thematisch geordnete Bildergalerie auf Deiner Benutzerseite anzulegen? Das wuerde es sicher einfacher machen, sich einen Ueberblick ueber die verfuegbaren Fotos zu verschaffen. Gute Mongoleibilder kann Wikipedia immer gebrauchen. Aber man sollte sie auch finden koennen bzw. wissen, dass sie existieren.

Hi Yaan, vielen Dank für diese Anregungen und Ermutigungen. Natürlich habe ich darüber nachgedacht, mit Kategorien und Pages die Auffindbarkeit der Bilder zu erleichtern. Was bringt aber eine eigene Nutzerseite ? Wir wollen nicht Werbung für uns selbst, sondern für die Sache machen. Und die Mongolei soll nur ein erster Schritt sein, denn wir kennen uns in vielen Ländern aus und sind unterwegs, darunter viel in China. "Experte" waere schon sehr uebertrieben. Ausserdem habe ich zur Zeit leider viel zu tun.

Wg. der Galerie, vielleicht koenntest Du stattdessen einfach von Deiner Nutzerseite ganz formlos auf Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, Nalaikh etc. verlinken? The only exception is File:Chadraabal Exhibition 2.jpg, because there the main subject are the people shown and the paintings fall under de minimis. However, in this case more information is required as to who those people actually are. Panorama von Ulan-Bator (2009)

Deine "Datei:Panorama-Ulan-Bator-2009.jpg" sieht leider sehr verzehrt mit starken Stitch-Fehler aus. Außerdem sind einige Farben übersätigt (falscher Weis-wert?). Ich habe aus den drei Originalen eine neue Version in zylindrischer Projektion erzeugt und hochgeladen. Dadurch wird die Geometrie entzerrt, und das Bild insgesamt viel breiter. Farben und Kontrast habe ich so optimiert, dass möglichst der gesamte Dynamikumfang des Bildes erhalten bleibt. Leider haben die linken beiden Bilder fast keine Überlappung (im Himmel gar keine), was die Sache ziemlich schwierig macht, aber mit dem Stempelwerkzeug ließ sich die Lücke nahezu unerkennbar schließen. --Latebird (talk) 22:35, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Khurjun

Guten Tag, lieber oder liebe Eurasien-Spezialisten. Im Artikel über bedrohliche Winterverhältnisse (Zud) in der Mongolei werden Schutzwälle aus Dung erwähnt, Khurjun genannt. Ihr habt ein Foto dazu bereitgestellt. Auf der Suche nach der korrekten Aussprache bin ich nicht fündig geworden und habe das in den Diskussionseiten zu "Zud" in der englischen und der deutschen WP angesprochen.

Hallo Brücke-Osteuropa, du hast eben 20 meiner WLM-Mittelhessen-Fotos als Wettbewerbsbeiträge kategorisiert. Diese Fotos sind zwar bei der Durchführung des Projekts Wiki Loves Monuments Mittelhessen entstanden, nehmen aber nicht am Wettbewerb Wiki Loves Monuments teil, weil sie erst im Oktober hochgeladen wurden. Das gleiche Problem war mit 11 Fotos von Steschke, der diese selbst so eingeordnet hatte. Sie wurden im September gemacht und am 17.10. hochgeladen. Wie wollt Ihr es nun ? Ist WLM-Hessen Bestandteil von WLM-De ? Irgendwie sollte man schon Ordnung und Klarheit reinbekommen. So wie bei Fürth/Bayern habe ich Mittelhessen zu einer Unterkategorie von WLM-de gemacht. Das Mittelhessen-Projekt ist ein WLM-Begleitprojekt. Das heißt aber noch nicht, dass alle dort entstandenen Bilder die Wettbewerbsbedingungen erfüllen. Aus diesem Grund kannst du darauf vertrauen, dass Cirdans korrekt kategorisiert hatte. Für die Wettbewerbsteilnahme gibt es eigene Kategorien und Vorlagen, die ich meines Wissen bei allen meinen Fotos richtig eingesetzt hatte. --Wiegels (talk) 08:44, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

Danke für die Antwort. Ich habe 3 Meinungen aus Mittelhessen: Dem einen fehlen 60 Fotos in der Gesamt-Zusammenstellung WLM-de, ein anderer lädt aus dem WLM-Mittelhessen-Projekt 11 Fotos am 17.10 in den Gesamtbestand WLM-de (obwohl klares Kriterium war, Hochladen im September), und der nächste will seine mit WLM-Mittelhessen kategorisierten 20 Fotos nicht in die Gesamtheit eingeordnet haben. Am besten, Ihr klärt das erst in Mittelhessen, was ihr wirklich wollt. Und das Kriterium "Denkmal" im strengen staatlich anerkannten Sinne lt. Denkmalliste ist toll 8aus meiner Sicht), aber mit diesem Kriterium müßte man zahlreiche Fotos aus dem Bestand WLM-De entfernen. Man kann ein Jahr lang nun diskutieren ... Danke für dein Verständnis und für die Rückänderungen an meinen Fotos! Das andere von dir angesprochene Problem, dass nämlich beim Wettbewerb nicht nur Denkmalfotos eingereicht wurden, finde ich in Anbetracht der vielen brauchbaren Denkmalfotos nicht so gravierend. Die Jury, der ja alle diese Bilder vorgelegt werden, muss nur vor den Preisentscheidungen genauer hinsehen. Mittelfristig sollten aber mal der Bildbestand durchgesehen und fehlerhaft gesetzte Denkmalkategorien ausgetragen werden. Mit etwas zeitlichem Abstand würde ich mich daran auch beteiligen. Hallo Wiegels, danke für das Angebot. Was die Kategorisierung anbetrifft, so sind von 4771 WLM-Mittelhessen-Fotos nur 28 Fotos nicht zugleich bei WLM-De. Das sind 25 von Dir und 3 Panorama-Fotos von Stepro. Alles schöne Fotos. Aus meiner Sicht wäre dies nicht notwendig gewesen. Eher hätte man 11 Fotos von Steschke vom September rausnehmen müssen, die er selbst erst am 17.10. hochgeladen hat und auch WLM-de zugeordnet hat. Ich stimme dir nicht zu, dass WLM-MH keine Unterkategorie von WLM-De sein soll, was ich auch Cirdan mitgeteilt habe. Diese ganze Diskussion macht so keinen richtigen Sinn. Aus privaten Gründen werde ich erst in den nächsten Wochen noch etliche weitere Fotos aus Mittelhessen hochladen, die in die WLM-Mittelhessen-Kategorie aufgenommen werden sollen, um den Ertrag des geförderten Projekts erfassen zu können. Wegen der seit Langem bekannten Regel, dass die WLM-Wettbewerbsbeiträge im September hochzuladen waren, stehen beide Kategorien nicht in Teilmengenrelation zueinander. Vielleicht kannst du dich besser damit abfinden, wenn du dir vorstellst, das WLM-Mittelhessen-Projekt hätte einen anderen Namen, etwa „Denkmäler fotographieren in Mittelhessen“, denn das eigentliche Ziel war die Bereicherung der Wikipedia mit Denkmalfotos der Region. Der Projekttermin im September und der Wettbewerbsname im Titel können als zusätzlicher Anreiz aufgefasst werden, dass die Teilnehmer gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit hatten, mit ihren Fotos auch am Fotowettbewerb teilzunehmen.
