First, if you wish the image to be at the old name, I will change it back. I assumed that the reasoning was implied, and I apologize for not being more clear. The reason I changed the name is that the title of the image did not provide a description of the contents. The title was File:10.5.07CityCenterLobbyByLuigiNovi.jpg - this includes the date and name of photographer, which do not reflect the contents. "City Center" could be any city, and one would assume that it would be a picture of the City Center instead of the lobby of a building that happens to be in a city center. I understand that an uploader may name an image after themselves to ensure that they receive credit, but naming the image after clearly-read descriptors means that far more people will see it. Search engines such as Google and even the built-in wiki search favor page titles far over content, and by naming the image in this way it is far more likely that an image will be found by people that are looking for it. The title I moved it to is File:National Amusements City Center 15 Cinema De Lux - Movie Theater Lobby - White Plains, New York.jpg. Try searching Commons for "movie theater lobby" now and you find nothing of value, but soon this image will pop to the top of that list, and people will use it on Wikis and blogs. As it sees use, it will pop to the top of Google image search.

So, to be clear, by changing the name I was not in any way attempting to take credit away from the photographer, just to help that image reach as broad an audience as possible. This was also directly inspired by en:Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2012 February 6, where the original image was nominated for deletion because the nominator had no idea what the picture was of. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja (talk / en) 01:19, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Countless images across the Commons, including my own, do not specify the city in which they were taken. "City Center" is simply the name of the building. In any event, in the five years and thousands of images I've uploaded to the Commons, I've never encountered anyone changing any of my photos' file names, especially without consulting me first, nor the idea the image file names must specify the city in which they were taken. The file name I gave the photo follows the format I've used for most of my time on the Commons. Please change it back. Thank you. Nightscream (talk) 20:15, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Do you think, Wikimedia Commons matches the characteristics of a Wiki? (regarding to owning pages) I am not sure about that. I heard a lot about file-moving like "file names are just keys" -- If so why we have file-movers? But the file name is also the "title" of the file-description page -- This sounds not like just a key or identifier. .... -- RE rillke questions? 13:51, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

A logo is in public domain when it contains only text or very simple geometric shapes (e.g. a circle, a s quare) without any additional effect, like a marber layer to imitate a tortoise shell and without special composition.
